The Lawton Stand became a hub of meaningful conversations with installers, apprentices, colleges, customers, and the future of engineers, all engaging with various activities on the stand; including pipe bending with PB Plumber, our sustainability press letter game with MB Plumber, Airconditioning demos with Will Watson from @HVAC_UK and Thomas Milham from TCM Air Conditioning Services, a live sculpture made by Roy from MetalikArt, heart making with Soph Pink Plumbing, and special guest demos featuring Rothenberger and NovoPress showcasing their new tools!

At Lawton Tubes, we believe in shaping the future of construction by investing in people. It’s why we’re working with colleges and supporting InstallerFUTURES, giving young people hands-on learning and the chance to see where a career in plumbing and heating, and airconditioning can take them.

We have partnered with this year’s InstallerSHOW to join in with the fun, bringing our own unique spin to exhibiting at the show with engaging activities focused on the incredible sustainability of copper (something we love to shout about), and of course experiencing the event itself, spreading the good word about Lawton Tubes and the exciting products we offer you!

We love being around our industry peers and as this year’s events list shows, you can see why. You can find us at stand 5C22 for all three days where you’ll get to meet some incredible copper ambassadors, not forgetting our technical sales team who will be there to answer all your questions.

On our stand this year, you’ll get to see former serviceman Roy Evans of Metalikart flexing his creative muscles to build a custom copper sculpture from scratch, live!

We’ve got Sophie from Pink Plumbing showing off her artistic skills, working her magic to mould copper into hearts. A perfect sustainable gift to keep for yourself or give to a loved one.

There are also challenges and competitions aplenty to get everyone involved, learning, laughing, and working together; Marcus Bull (MB plumber) is hosting the Press Letter game, and we have Peter Booth’s (PB plumber) now infamous Pipe Bending Challenge where you will compete head-to-head to create the perfect bend – are you up for the challenge?

No celebration of the industry would be complete without an awards ceremony. We encourage everyone to keep your eyes peeled on our Instagram and stick around for the third day to see the Copper Champion crowned! We have so many prestigious prizes to give away…

Not only are we celebrating your skills at the show, but we are also cheering on our LPB Award finalists who have been nominated by YOU the last few weeks. We will finally get to see who will be crowned the LPB Award winners of 2025: our 2025 Plumber’s Plumber, and our brand new award category – Airconditioning Engineer of the Year! Don’t miss out on their victory, on Wednesday 25^th June at 3pm sharp!

Managing Director for the show, Mike Costain shared his excitement for this year’s event: “It’s the 10^th anniversary of InstallerSHOW this year and the show is now taking over three halls of the NEC. We’ll have over 30,000 people coming through the doors over the three days and our partners at Lawton Tubes provide the perfect example of how to engage with our audience. Their educational and fun approach to the InstallerSHOW is refreshing. Roll on 10am on Tuesday 24^th June when the doors open. All eyes on Lawton Tubes.”

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this amazing event we’re supporting with our involvement in Installer Attraction as our mascot, Lenny will be on hand as one lucky person will win an amazing prize: their weight in copper!

Highlights from the Installer Show 2024

Press-Fitting Wall Challenge with MB Plumber

One of the major attractions was the Press-Fitting Wall Challenge, hosted by MB Plumber. Visitors had the opportunity to press copper tube fittings onto a wall to create one of two iconic pictures: the Union Jack and London’s Tower Bridge. This interactive activity was a hit, engaging both professionals and enthusiasts in a fun and skill-testing competition.

Legendary Pipe Bending Challenge with PB Plumber

Our ambassador, PB Plumber, returned to the stand with his legendary Pipe Bending Challenge. This competition saw participants go head-to-head to achieve the perfect copper pipe bend. The challenge was not only a test of skill but also a crowd favourite, drawing in spectators and participants eager to show off their abilities.

We had some outstanding performances throughout the three days of the event. Congratulations to our talented winners:

The overall winner of the Pipe Bending Challenge, Cody McDonald, was awarded the prestigious Copper Champion 2024 trophy. In addition, all day winners received a brand new Velocity kit bag.

LPB Awards 2024

Thank you to everyone who got their nominations in for this year’s LPB Awards. Congratulations to our four finalists, selected by our independent judge, who noted that these plumbers really stood out from over 100 nominations. Congratulations to @JonestheGas, @bb_the_engineer, @GlisterServices, and @BoilerstooBathrooms.

The winner is Todd Glister from Glister Services. Congratulations, Todd! The LPB Awards are all about recognizing plumbers in the community who make a difference, whether it’s sharing knowledge with others, making a positive impact, or providing professional advice, including mental health support.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Lawton Tubes, sustainability is a core value, and it was reflected in our activities at the show. All participants in the Pipe Bending Challenge received our exclusive 100 Lawton Tubes hats, made in collaboration with PB Plumber. These hats symbolise our commitment to sustainability, as copper is 100% recyclable. This initiative demonstrates the importance of environmentally friendly practices in our industry and our dedication to promoting sustainable solutions.

Apprentices and Education

Our stand was buzzing with activity and welcomed numerous industry professionals, including TV presenter Rachel Riley, who eagerly learned the art of traditional pipe bending. This hands-on experience showcased the skills involved and highlighted plumbing as a promising career path for apprentices who visited our stand on Day 3.

We were honoured to host students from various colleges, including Birmingham Metropolitan College looking to introduce new opportunities and career paths for their students. Many students participated in our pipe bending challenge, using these tools and techniques for the first time.

This event not only showcased top plumbing talent but also emphasized our commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals.
